What is your go to summer colour? Mine is orange, and fuchsia, sometimes worn together, and also turquoise, and I can just about get away with some yellow accents. Frankly in the summer anything goes, and in case of a fashion faux pas I can blame it on heatstroke or one too many Aperols. But if you’re a die-hard ‘black is the new black’ and nervous about dipping your toe into the rainbow, then a good place to start is nail polish to inject just a hint of colour to your outfit. With this being my fourth post about NailKind vegan and cruelty-free nail polish, it’s no secret that I’m a fan of the Danish brand’s easy to apply formula and flawless colour palette – literally every single shade is highly wearable. Plus the formulas focus as much as possible on mineral and plant-based ingredients such as sugar cane, corn and maize, a self-proclaimed form of ‘low-chemical cosmetics’. So here is a sunny summer selection of three variations on orange, ranging from an electric shade to a sandy nude for the less adventurous.

Nailkind Nail Polish in Mystery Mango

The name says it all: this pinky orange shade is like the inside of a ripe mango. A sunny and happy shade without veering into the bright and brash side of summer. It’s a soft version of orange thanks to the touch of peachy pink which helps to tone down what could’ve been a bright deep shade. This gentle formula is my favourite shade out of the three as it’s very wearable but remains distinctive. Works as much for beach holidays as it does summer weekends at home. Pair with a glass of rosé! 8ml RRP £8.95

Nailkind Nail Polish in Ohh My Orange

This one is for those who embrace colour! Described as a bright electric orange hue, it’s an unapologetic shade full of summer positivity. It’ll be difficult to pull off any other time of the year unless you’re going to a Copacabana-themed Halloween party, so make the most of it during the sunny spells. I love this energetic orange tone against my holiday tan. Two coats and a topcoat ensured a high shine finish and 7 days staying power. My accessory of choice? An equally bright Aperol Spritz, or you can let the nail polish do the talking with a Mojito if you don’t want your drink to compete for attention. 8ml RRP £8.95

Nailkind Nail Polish in Sahara Dreams

The most subdued out of the three shades, and probably even a bit of a stretch to call it orange, it’s on the edge of the orange colour spectrum. Elegant but still more interesting than a traditional nude, this warm sandy beige takes inspiration from arid deserts where sand dunes are touched pink by a setting orange sun. A beautiful all year round shade that look great against a neutral drink like gin and tonic. Cheers! 8ml RRP £8.95
