The start of September often brings a familiar shift in pace. Summer is winding down, inboxes are filling up again and the return to work can feel like a lot, especially if you’re trying to bounce back after a slower, more relaxed season. This can be the moment when stress, fatigue and low motivation start to creep in, mirroring the start of shorter days and colder months. After taking this summer off work to spend more time with my son, I’m starting a new job and want to ensure both my body and mind are at their best back-to-work mode with an easy and simple wellness routine.
That’s where The Naked Pharmacy comes into play. With natural, pharmacist-led supplements and targeted formulas, it offers a focused range designed to support everyday health, from energy and mood to sleep and overall wellbeing. I start with a 15-minute phone consultation to briefly talk through my lifestyle and what I’m after. Based on this, the consultant recommends supplements that suit my needs.

That makes the brand particularly appealing for anyone dealing with work-related stress, poor sleep or low energy. Instead of promising a dramatic transformation, The Naked Pharmacy offers products that fit naturally into a realistic routine — exactly what many people need at the end of August.
The Naked Pharmacy Saffrosun Calm
In an unfortunately not-so-distant past (we’re talking up to 2nd half of last century), women displaying emotions at odds with societal expectations (anger, frustration, lust, depression, anxiety) were diagnosed by – male – doctors with ‘female hysteria’. A screaming banshee comes to mind. Or Mr Rochester’s ‘mad’ wife in Jane Eyre. We all know how she ends up (in case your GCSEs feel like a distant memory, she dies by jumping from the roof of her stately home after setting the mansion on fire). This was after being imprisoned by her own husband for years, justified by her violent outbursts and mentally unstable behaviour.
We may have made some progress in the emotional wellbeing stakes, but I’m going to try and avoid that tragic ending by:
- Not marrying a controlling psycho – tick
- Looking after my health

Returning to work after a break can leave you feeling frazzled, but I want to get ahead of the curve on this one with Saffrosun Calm. This vegan-friendly supplement pairs the world’s most clinically studied saffron extract with food-sourced vitamin D3 and B12, plus a baobab prebiotic — all wrapped in a tapioca shell. Designed to help you feel calmer, it unwinds the mind, taking the edge off nervousness without any drowsiness. The consultant recommends to add this supplement to my morning routine, as cortisol is at its highest then. I can then feel ready for days of back-to-back meetings, recruiting a new team and dealing with operational challenges.
The Naked Pharmacy Marine Magnesium
I discovered the benefits of magnesium when I first started taking Feel’s Natural Magnesium + Calcium supplement over a year ago. Magnesium not only influences your mood and supports healthy bones by increasing bone strength and regulating hormones, according to Liz Earle’s A Better Second Half it ‘also plays a role in promoting better sleep by regulating our circadian rhythms and increasing muscle relaxation. Good magnesium levels […] have been shown to help alleviate depression, lift mood and ease anxiety.’

If reduced natural light throughout winter affects your mood, you might want to try a boost of magnesium. And even if that’s not the case, we all need a good night’s sleep to feel effective at work the following day. Sleep is often the first thing to suffer when you are under pressure. I’m guilty of letting work stress take over my brain long after I’ve turned my bedroom light off, affecting my sleep quality. Sourced from pure sea water in Ireland, The Naked Pharmacy’s Marine Magnesium contributes to mental clarity and promotes restful sleep. Exactly what I need to hit the ground running in a new job.

The Naked Pharmacy Naked Collagen
This one was not specifically recommended to me by the consultant, but we ended up talking about it at length when I asked to know more about it – anything that says collagen, I’m game. So what’s interesting about this one is that it contains 2 types of collagen: type I for hair, skin and nails health, as well as type III for gut health, muscles and joints. Sign me up, I need all of that.
Collagen is a big protein so it can be difficult for the body to absorb and know where to direct it to, but these supplements use ultra-low molecular weight peptides, making them exceptionally small and therefore easier for the body to absorb. Watch out though, for any vegans out there, this is not marine collagen, it’s bovine, chosen because it’s structurally closest to human collagen.

I may not have been recommended this supplement as part of my back to work wellbeing routine, but I’ll be adding it regardless as a great all-year-round inner beauty boost, supporting skin health and trying to keep that rested healthy glow I’ve just about managed to achieve after 3 stress-free months.
The overall desired outcome from taking these 3 supplements? Calm approach to stress, quality sleep, healthy skin. There is no quick fix here: inner health requires consistency and commitment. This is my new work year resolution.
