Following on from last week’s Organic Beauty & Wellbeing Week post, I’m back with a fresh selection of product swap ideas, with the aim of increasing the number of certified organic products in bathrooms. To celebrate 50 years of Soil Association organic certification here is a selection of health, beauty and wellbeing products that are all certified organic.

Tabitha James Kraan Golden Citrus shampoo & conditioner
This shampoo was my very first introduction to organic haircare 5 years ago, and I still remember how clean, refreshed, soft and full my hair felt. Not only is it certified organic, but it performed better than non-organic shampoos AND many salon brands I’d tried. Yes, the price tag pushes this product into luxe territory, but the 15% you save on subscription helps. A great way in for first time users of natural and organic haircare, I use a dollop for the initial cleanse where I achieve a low foam, removing all the hair oil I’ve combed through my hair the night before, then follow up with a second cleanse (using less product) for a full-on foamy experience. Hair products are no longer restricted to hair alone, with scalp health now being just as important as bouncy locks. My scalp has become increasingly sensitive to harsh ingredients (detergents, synthetic ingredients, plastics, silicones), leaving me itching my way through the day, but this shampoo leaves it feeling soothed and balanced, with zero irritation. 250ml RRP £35.00

Neal’s Yard Remedies Sensitive Micellar Cleanser
Skincare guru Caroline Hirons may not be a fan of micellar cleansers, but I’m not giving up my micellar habit anytime soon. A full face of make-up will have me reaching for a rich balm or oil cleanser like Caudalie Vinoclean Cleansing Oil, and for days when my skin feels particularly congested it’ll be a purifying deep clean exfoliator like Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. But for evenings when the priority comes down to efficiency (i.e. I am too tired to indulge in a lengthy Korean-style skincare routine), Neal’s Yard Remedies’ certified organic Micellar Cleanser does the job. If you’re a regular micellar user, this alcohol-free and fragrance-free one will feel more viscous than the water ones: it is super rich in hyaluronic acid and aloe vera, so not only does it remove makeup and dirt, it also soothes and hydrates dry and sensitive skin. If you prefer to dip your toe in first before committing to the full size, there’s a travel size version available too. 200ml RRP £20.00
Pai The Impossible Glow
Confession: I have a bit of a fan girl crush on Pai’s founder Sarah Brown. I had the pleasure of interviewing her during Organic Beauty & Wellbeing Week a few years ago and was won over by her drive, commitment and open attitude. Created with sensitive skin in mind (starting with Sarah’s first-hand experience), Pai offers a range of gentle and calming products that are certified organic, vegan and cruelty-free. I became a Pai fan after discovering their amazing (but now defunct – why??) Rosehip BioRegenerate Radiance Mask, and every one of their products I tried after that never failed to impress me – and more importantly never failed to balance and soothe my skin. Suitable for all skin tones, these glow givers cross the bridge of skincare into makeup, bringing year-round mica-enhanced shimmer in the form of a bronzer, rose highlighter and gold highlighter. Super versatile and easy to use, the glow drops can be mixed to your moisturiser, foundation or applied to specific areas for luminous skin, all the while bringing skincare benefits thanks to hydrating hyaluronic acid. That’s another Pai hit. 30ml RRP £29.00

InLight Skin Aid Kit
I’d never really experimented with natural wellness products until I started working at Neal’s Yard Remedies – and even then, I was well into my second year there before I truly embraced the herbal creams and balms. But once I’d tried their Soothing Skin Salve on a persistent eczema patch and witnessed overnight improvement, I was hooked. Inlight Beauty’s travel-friendly Skin Aid Kit contains 5 certified organic mini ointments you’ll want to take on holiday as your natural first aid kit. Suitable for the whole family, each herb-infused pot provides relief from common conditions such as red, itchy skin, bruises and sore muscles. The first one I’ll be reaching for is the Turmeric & Calendula Relief Balm to soothe my itchy eczema that flares up with the change in seasons, and the Propolis & Tea Tree Rescue Balm Skin will be my go-to when a break out needs calming down. And to top it off, this kit has also just won Best Soil Association product with Natural Health Beauty Awards. RRP £37.00

Ohne Organic Cotton Tampons
Periods. The topic has come a long way since my teenage years, with periods being talked about more openly than ever before: less embarrassment, more acceptance, and so many more sustainable options, from plastic-free tampons to menstrual cups and period pants. I’ve happily dived head first into sustainable beauty swaps, but moving away from plastic-free or single use menstrual products is probably my biggest challenge. Time to re-evaluate with these 100% organic cotton and biodegradable tampons: fully decomposing in 5 months vs non-organic versions which can take 100 times longer – yes that’s 500 years. From RRP £5.50

Evolve Organic Beauty Hydrate & Protect Facial Cream
This is the only product here that isn’t Soil Association certified, but with an Ecocert organic certification I think it still deserves a shout out during Organic Beauty & Wellbeing Week. This British beauty brand is a constant fixture in my bathroom, from their nourishing Super Berry Shower Oil made with upcycled raspberry oil, to their Bio-Retinol Gold Face Mask that provides Goldfinger vibes. This light every day moisturiser simply does what it says: hydrates with no greasiness and protects against pollution. 60ml RRP £26.00
Features gifted products.
