If you’re craving a sustainable, spa-worthy facial without leaving your bathroom, this skincare line-up from LUSH is what you’re looking for. The cruelty-free brand’s spa menu features their Validation Facial which I experienced for the first time last year, and resulted in repeat bookings and a slight obsession with their warm and welcoming Covent Garden spa. To try and replicate a hint of that experience at home, I’ve put together the ultimate 4-step routine with some of the brand’s new playful but effective skincare launches including a cleanser, scrub, eye pads and face mask.

Step 1: Koji Paste Fresh Cleanser
Let’s kick things off with the Koji Paste fresh cleanser. This vegan, soapless cleanser not only removes excess dirt and oil without stripping moisture, it also exfoliates thanks to ground almonds which, when blended with water, create a soft almond milk paste. I definitely didn’t add enough water the first time round! The star ingredient – koji paste, a fermented rice superstar – is a key ingredient in sake production and known for giving the people working in sake factories beautiful hands. Say no more, I’m sold on its naturally brightening effect. The result: no tightness, just a fresh, clean glow. It’s the same cleanser used in LUSH Spa facials, so you know you’re getting the luxury treatment at home.

Step 2: Sugared Plum Facial Scrub Cube
After cleansing I move onto the Sugared Plum facial scrub cube: a solid, packaging-free exfoliator covered in purple glitter. The 10-year-old in me is delighted by this little purple powerhouse that smells like a fruity dream. By the time it’s gone through Royal Mail though, it’s no longer a cube, more like a misshapen ball of playdough that ended up on the arts & crafts glitter table. To use, just pinch off a bit, add water (again, I didn’t use enough first time round), and massage into a paste before gently buffing away dead skin. It’s a little trial and error to get the consistency right, but once you do, you’re rewarded with super smooth, soft skin. Even my sensitive skin handled it well—just don’t overdo it; once a week is plenty for that baby-soft finish.
Step 3: Mrs Whippy Face Mask
Next up: Mrs Whippy face mask. The name alone is loaded with nostalgia. LUSH sure know how to have fun with their products’ looks and names, but don’t skimp on great natural ingredients and efficacy. This face mask is packed with soothing, nourishing ingredients that calm redness and leave your complexion looking plump and feeling happy. The texture instinctively makes me want to shake it as soon as I lift the pot’s lid to watch its yogurt-like texture wobble like jelly. Thick, creamy and easy to apply, I slick on a thick layer and leave on for 15 minutes. When I rinse off my skin feels hydrated, balanced, and genuinely pampered. Don’t forget to store it in the fridge to keep it fresh!

Step 4: Dragon Clouds Eye Pads
No facial is complete without a little TLC for your eyes, and when I see my puffy eyes greeting me at the beginning and end of every day, I know this is a step I don’t want to skip. Pop the Dragon Clouds Eye Pads in the fridge before use for an ultra-refreshing, de-puffing treat. You can place these jelly pads under your eyes for a little hydration, or on closed eyes while the Mrs Whippy face mask is working its magic, for a cooling, relaxing sensation. Just remember, they’re single-use for hygiene reasons, but you can sometimes stretch them to a second use if you’re careful.
The Verdict: Sustainable Self-Care, LUSH Style
All four products are vegan, cruelty-free, and come in minimal, refillable or compostable packaging. The Koji Paste keeps things gentle but effective, the Sugared Plum scrub gives you instant smoothness, Mrs Whippy delivers deep nourishment, and Dragon Clouds eye pads add that spa-like finishing touch. If you want a sustainable at-home facial that feels indulgent and actually works, this LUSH routine can get you there with an added dose of tongue-in-cheek. Let’s have fun with our skincare!
